How to Fix ‘No Signal’ on Your DStv Decoder

A ‘No Signal’ or ‘E48-32’ message is one of the most common DStv faults — and often the easiest to fix. Here’s how to troubleshoot before calling a technician.

1. Check your cables

Loose or corroded connections at the back of your decoder or at the LNB on the dish are the number-one cause. Hand-tighten the F-connectors and inspect for green corrosion.

2. Reboot the decoder

Switch the decoder off at the wall, wait 30 seconds, then power back on. This forces a fresh signal lock.

3. Look for dish movement

Strong winds and heavy storms can knock your dish out of alignment by a few millimetres — enough to lose signal. If you can safely see your dish, look for obvious tilt or rotation.

4. Check the LNB

If you’ve ruled out cabling and alignment, the LNB itself may be faulty. We always carry genuine LNBs and Smart LNBs so a replacement can be done in the same visit.
