Highveld thunderstorms are spectacular â and brutal on satellite signal. Here’s why, and what you can do.
Rain fade
Heavy rain droplets in the air between the satellite and your dish absorb part of the signal. A small amount of pixelating during a serious storm is normal and unavoidable.
When it isn’t normal
If your signal drops out in light rain or stays bad after the storm passes, something else is wrong â usually a marginal dish alignment or a failing LNB. Both are easy fixes.
What helps
A perfectly aligned dish with a quality LNB and proper cable shielding gives you the best margin against rain fade.
